The History Behind the Science

Our journey started unexpectedly in the 1980s when Dr. Jack Sacks from Harvard University researched the effects of niacin on cholesterol. He discovered that our founder, R. Terry Hammerschmidt’s, unique vegetable wax matrix technology reduced the common side effect of "flushing," a temporary redness and warmth that feels like a mild sunburn and lasts about 30 minutes. This study not only highlighted the lipid benefits of niacin in raising good cholesterol and lowering bad cholesterol, but it also showed significantly reduced flushing.

As a result, our innovative wax matrix technology gained recognition from researchers at multiple universities. Our controlled release technology became popular for its ability to provide a slow, steady release of nutrients. Over time, it led to over 23 published studies, and our research has been acknowledged by esteemed institutions such as Harvard, the University of California, the University of Minnesota, Oregon Health & Science University, Brown University, Iowa State, Utah State, West Virginia University, and others across countries like Russia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Endurance Product Company’s Wax Matrix Technology has been featured in several well-known books, including The 8-Week Cholesterol Cure, The New 8-Week Cholesterol Cure, The Blood Pressure Cure, Cholesterol Without Diet: The Niacin Solution, The Niacin Breakthrough, Ulcer Free!, and The Tubby Factor.

The Science Behind Our Products

Since 1978, Endurance Products Company has been a pioneer in extended-release and sustained-release dietary supplements. Our products mimic the body’s natural digestion process, releasing nutrients over several hours, ensuring maximum absorption, reduced waste, and minimal side effects.

Listen to our President, Joe Brunner, discuss the wax matrix technology in this brief video:

Benefits of Sustained-Release Supplements

Gentle on the stomach and easy to digest

Reduces niacin (nicotinic acid)-related flushing

Cost-effective with fewer nutrients lost through urine

Eliminates the need for multiple, daily doses

Free from solvents, cellulose, sugar coatings, starch, and artificial colors

Quality and Safety

Endurance Product's Oregon-based facilities for manufacturing and packaging adhere to the stringent standards set by the FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Our facilities, along with the equipment, materials, personnel, and operational processes, undergo an annual inspection and certification by UL Verification Services, an independent third party.

UL

The UL® National Brand Certification Program (NBCP) evaluates an organization’s compliance with relevant regulations and standards for the products it manufactures. Endurance Products Company is proud to be certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for our dietary supplement production, following a thorough inspection of our good manufacturing practices and quality management system in accordance with the UL Certified Management System 21 CFR Part 111. This certification encompasses our entire process, including manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, and distribution of dietary supplement tablets, at both our EPC and Innovite facilities.
